Lightbase update (Q3 2018)

Mathijs Vreeman
November 5, 2018

It’s been a while since the last update. The summer period felt bit quiet because we have been busy celebrating our 1 year anniversary, playing lasertag and having vacations. But writing this update I realize we have quite some good things to share.

Two great developers joined. Both Portuguese guys with solid and varying skills in the frontend, backend and mobile app territory. Welcome on board Tomás and Tiago, it’s great working with you!

We also welcomed two fresh development interns. Rody (Windesheim Flevoland) and Valentijn (Hogeschool van Amsterdam) will build knowledge and work on experimental projects until february 2019.

Additionally, we have been putting quite some effort in finding the right person to professionalize and structure our new business efforts. It is our ambition to become a key player in the Dutch development sector. For that we need to continue attracting top talents in all relevant fields of expertise and to be able to do so, we need scale. So new business.
After many interviews we have found the right person to take on this challenge. She will join the team next week. Our first non-development hire. An exciting step for Lightbase!

The desk situation at Jaarbeurs is getting tight now. Time for our new office! (which is unfortunately delayed until march 1st 😕)

After weeks of prototyping and coding we have launched NeoTapLS (by Tap4Life), an app for health staff delivering babies and performing neonatal resuscitation in both high- and low income countries. We are really proud of the end result. The first deliveries guided by the app’s visual and spoken feedback have already taken place!

The app is made with ReactNative. Download links for Android and iOS here.

We have also been working on two chatbots for another client of ours. We found the existing solutions to be a bit user unfriendly so we decided to build our own interface for programming chatbots without code: Lightbot. We believe that an intuitive interface combined with Google DialogFlow’s Natural Language Processing make a very powerful tool. We will soon open up for beta users. Let me know if you want to try it out.

With our work on Wayke’s mobile apps we are already involved in the mobility industry. There’s more to come. This week we will formalize our cooperation with a key player in the Dutch car sharing sector. The team is looking forward to join them on their mission for a cleaner future!

That’s it for now. To be notified about our next update, go to and enter your e-mailaddress to subscribe to our newsletter. We promise not to spam you 😙
